Nothing is what it seems when a twisted one-night stand turns into a vicious murder by a serial killer. Known primarily for his acting roles, the film is the feature cinematography debut of Giovanni Ribisi. Despite the female officers’ empathy for the woman, none of the officers felt the firearm in their jacket during the comforting and moving to the car. He went too far. I predicted the twist in the first act. There’s nothing really original here, and this is strongly related to Tarantino’s style of breaking the film into (in this case unusual) “chapters”. That’s the point. The film is so unbelievable and so unsupported by any historical evidence that it is borderline offensive. Look, this movie was fun to watch, purely for entertainment value, but as all sorts of allegories, "lessons" or a statement about the culture it so clearly tries to be. If anything, it successfully subverts *most* viewers' expectations, but that’s about it. I really don’t feel the love for this movie and the outpouring of praise comes down to three things: 1) Recent bias (younger critics), 2) Cool filmmaking and cinematography. , and 3) Great work by the entire cast. 5.5/10..
