Director Fede Alvarez called on the special effects team from Alien 2 (1986) to work on the creatures
Tale
While searching the deep recesses of an abandoned space station, a group of young space colonists come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe. Director Fede Alvarez explains the principle he established in Alien: Romulus, that “if it can be practical, it will be practical,” which is why the cast always worked against the physical representation of the xenomorph. Physical sets, practical creatures, and miniatures were used wherever possible to help ground the later visual effects work. When Rain turns off the ship’s gravity and shoots all the aliens, all of their blood hangs in the air in long, smeared patterns.

Death of Cinema – The Real BBC @MauLer @HeelvsBabyface (2024). Nothing special, many of the really positive reviews are overly praised. The characters are mostly completely limp and lack any real character arc, aside from Andy. Honestly, I had no emotional attachment to most of the characters, and most of them were just annoying and bland.
As a huge fan of the originals, I was disappointed
The film was cheesy at times, seemed to take ages to get going and relied too heavily on Alien clichés to give the plot and screenplay any real color. The special effects were good enough and the design of the original Xenomorph was excellent, although the facehuggers look worse in this movie than in Alien and Aliens for some reason. Don’t get too excited about the current hype surrounding Romulus, it’s not a terrible movie, but it’s not great either. The final season of What We Do in the Shadows is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
