Tale
It follows Rupert Campbell-Black and Tony Baddingham, whose long-running rivalry reaches its peak. Coincidentally, Aidan Turner has previously filmed at Chavenage House (The Priory in Rivals). The same location was also used to portray Trenwith House in the 2015 BBC television adaptation of Poldark. I am not surprised by the incredibly superficial “whining” of some: “Wow wow, Rupert Campbell-Black was blond and had blue eyes.” When I first saw Alex Hassell, I couldn’t believe those eyes and how he just carried this undertone that would bury RCB. He is enormously well cast and as a 40-year-old fan of all of Jilly’s books, I have no problem at all with Mr Hassell. His eyes surpassed any idea I could have of who could play Rupert. And that is a remarkable achievement for someone who was so ingrained in what kind of personality RCB is, what he looks like and how he acts. Well done…I bet Jilly is happy!
