Sober Living House In Boston Massachusetts
Melissa is currently finishing her Master’s Thesis at Harvard University and will be starting a Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology at William James College in September 2017. She is motivated by a strong desire to help addicts and alcoholics find value and meaning in their lives and what drives them to make a change. There is a saying that “all we need to know we learned in kindergarten”. In the Tharros kitchen with “my guys” I get to witness what is possible.

Tharros House approaches recovery by looking at both abstinence and your life satisfaction/ happiness. We employ the tenants of positive psychology to help identify what areas of your life will benefit the most from your attention, ultimately helping you achieve your goals and a life that you look forward to living! Tharros house has a great number of resources and we can refer you to therapists, programs, and licensed professionals as needed.
After 30 days, clients are expected to be employed while they continue progress in their recovery work. They continue to meet with their case manager weekly and participate in community support activities. Teras, also located in Lexington MA, offers a less structured, but still supportive model of high standards sober living. When you arrive at the house, you will undergo an initial discussion and orientation with the Program Director, including a dialogue on the past events that led you here. Together, we will start discussing what you want to achieve by engaging the support at Tharros. There are general rules of the house that everyone is required to follow.
- In his leadership role at Teras House, Darren interfaces with clients, families, and our support staff.
- Learning to live a happy life free of alcohol and drugs takes time, but you can do it if you want to.
- The ability to spend 6 months to a year in a supportive environment allows you to learn more about yourself and your addiction.
- Teras and Tharros are not affiliated with any clinical treatment (IOP/PHP, etc.) and our focus is on helping each client engage the best clinical support for their own circumstance.
- Our sober living home reinforces honesty and integrity as we provide support along the journey to cultivating a new, constructive and optimistic sober lifestyle.
- At Teras, we offer structured sober living with flexible structure to meet the needs of those returning to family, work, school, or other commitments.
Welcome to the Tharros House- Mens recovery home
For others, after 1-6 months at Tharros, clients may choose to transition to Teras. Melissa is responsible for providing Tharros House with empirically supported practices, and more recently, has employed Martin Seligman’s scientific model of happiness. She draws upon tenants of positive psychology and applying it to individuals in recovery, with the belief that all people can flourish. On my first night of teaching cooking, in the Tharros kitchen, a home for recovering addicts, one of the guys blurted out “Are you gonna be comfortable working with 8 addicts?
Some treatment facilities provide care for 30, 60 or 90+ days. If you’ve completed a program like this, you’re probably feeling very good about your recovery, as you should. At Tharros House, we want to help you achieve your life goals and long-term sobriety with the tools and foundation you’ve already acquired. Leaving a residential, inpatient, or outpatient treatment environment is often more challenging than expected. You’ve changed, but the people, places, and things around you haven’t. Some of the same triggers you had before can be reactivated and we recognize how frustrating and upsetting that can be.
